Missouri-born designer Pam Meyer, founder and president of Alchemy, is a trained metalsmith. She established Alchemy as a better costume jewelry company in the early 1980s, selling to department stores in the USA and overseas. In 1994, disillusioned with the fashion jewelry industry’s orientation  to trends, Pam Meyer introduced trans-seasonal, industrial-motif jewelry groups and gift items representing a radical departure from everything that she had done before. The approach that now defines her work reflects her primary influences – the Bauhaus, Constructivism, Suprematism, the Jugendstil, the Wiener Werkstatte-and her determination to look beyond fashionability and to work with the matrix of the past, the motion of the present, and the meaning of the future.

All Alchemy merchandise comprises base metal or brass castings and brass based chains and findings plated with finishes in antique silver, antique brass, and antique copper.
